Standoff (2016)

Could easily have been a play. A handful of characters that basically stay in the same place the entire movie. Suspense isn’t bad in parts, but nothing that sets it apart.

The Losers (2010)

Shallow. All sizzle, no flavor. A helicopter full of 25 kids blows up and I, as a viewer, don't really care. A good action film requires depth of character so that you care who lives and who dies. This doesn't have that.

Band Of Robbers (2015)

A modern day retelling of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer. Some quirky humor and dark twists helped to pull this indie above the average mark.

Crank (2006)

Jason Statham and the concept were fine. The director's unique shooting style was also very appropriate. It's the writers that ruined this movie. Implausible plot points and disjointed scenes pulled me away from the action. I felt a much better movie could have been made with a more polished script.

We The Tiny House People (2012)

I’ve been entranced by the tiny house movement for some time now. This documentary gives us a peek inside some interesting ones around the world.

Hello Ladies The Movie (2014)

Maybe all television series should wrap-up with a movie. This was an enjoyable end cap to a quirky series that felt satisfying without being forced.

An Education (2009)

Smartly written, although a bit dry at times. I think I would have liked the story a little more if David hadn't been so randomly odd. Still, the characters were well developed and relatively consistent throughout the film. It's not a terribly exciting story, but not bad for a Sunday afternoon.

Commune (2005)

A documentary about the Black Bear commune in California and the people who lived there. Pretty interesting look into a lifestyle most of us have only heard about. I enjoyed seeing where they ended up after leaving the ranch.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)

More action packed and entertaining than the trudging first. Some incredible fight sequences, like the one on the raging river. Visually and audibly engaging.
