You know how some movies play like you're reading the book they were
adapted from. This is one of those films. The story arcs are
predictable and the characters behave the way you expect them to. At
times I could imagine Van Damme or Segal playing the lead. Thankfully
they were not, which is why credible acting saved the day.

Defendor (2009)
The similarities between this fake superhero movie and Super, starring Rainn Wilson, are varied. Both are dark films that take themselves seriously, at least from the viewpoints of the title characters. Alas, neither film was able to rise above mediocrity.

Sucker Punch (2011)
As talented as Zach Snyder is at making things look on screen, without a cohesive script, it’s simply unrewarding eye candy. I love hot chicks kicking ass as much as the next guy—probably more—but I need characters and a substantial story to go with it. I need to care. Sucker Punch is too much fantasy, too little reality. I’ll rewatch 300 and try to forget this one. It shouldn’t be very hard.
