The Holiday (2006)

Jack Black in a romantic comedy? He toned down his goofiness to the point where he was just likeably goofy and a bit eccentric. It was fun to see his sense of humor and personality win over Kate Winslet's heart, despite his lack of dashing good looks. If you haven't seen a good romantic comedy in awhile, your search is over. Enjoy.

The Illusionist (2006)

WHY?!? Why must a good show go suddenly so wrong? I was enjoying the build-up, character development, and story. Then BAM! Glowing ghosts appear in the big trick. They didn't even bother to offer any sort of credible rationalization for how those spirits came to be. It's a completely ridiculous trick that should never have been used as a plot device. I didn't buy it.

The Prestige suffered a very similar fate. It's too bad the directors can't hop into that Tesla time machine and go fix these scripts before shooting started.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)

Felt like the kind of vampire movie the team behind Ghost Rider might make. In case you’re a moron, that’s a bad thing. I’ve had a better time watching an episode of True Blood.

The Tourist (2010)

This should have been classified under fantasy, because nothing in the film resembled real life. I like my mystery thrillers with a bit more substance. It felt like everyone was simply going through the motions.
