Fight Club (1999)

I was reminded of The Sixth Sense, which also came out in 1999. Where after a second viewing, the twist/reveal seems so obvious. It’s a dark, mind-bending, testosterone-filled, violent punch to the head. 25 years ago, it spoke to me a little more than it does now.

Three Kings (1999)

David O. Russel delivers both an entertaining Hollywood movie and a message about the absurdity of war. War is about greed. Greed for land, power, and money, and everything that comes with having those things. The antidote is empathy, which is in short supply. The film delivers a somewhat hopeful message of how empathy can occasionally cut through that greed to do some good.

The Iron Claw (2023)

Morale of the story, avoid fake wrestling at all costs and anyone who spends time watching it. I’ve never understood why people tune in to watch a bunch of roided out beefcakes pretend-fight each other. Then again, a third of our nation is functionally retarded. (this happens to overlap on a venn diagram with Trump supporters)

The acting and commitment to their rolls was impressive. But the movie is such a downer filled with one bad decision after another.

Wrath Of Man (2021)

Guy Ritchie’s latest shoot 'em up. More than your usual money truck heist flick. There are a lot of moving parts, but eventually all is explained. Quite violent.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016)

A ho-hum sequel to a slightly better first offering. No big surprises here. Mostly unrealistic by-the-numbers plot. Not bad, but not good either.

Sully (2016)

I was too caught up in my own life the day Sully landed on the Hudson to realize what a big deal it was, so this retelling was both entertaining and informative.

The Losers (2010)

Shallow. All sizzle, no flavor. A helicopter full of 25 kids blows up and I, as a viewer, don't really care. A good action film requires depth of character so that you care who lives and who dies. This doesn't have that.

Run All Night (2015)

It’s a movie I’ve seen before under many different names, but I keep watching this same plotline because I crave action movies. This version was pretty good.
