The Brothers Grimm (2005)

 

A hodgepodge of mismatched ideas, baffling characters, and bizarre scenes that make zero sense. Terrible plot, bad acting, and artificial looking sets. What were they thinking?

The Matrix Revolutions (2003)

Even worse than the second film. More confusing, less characterization, more of the same fight scenes, and an unfulfilling end. They should have only made one.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)

 

I’m glad I watched the first one right before seeing the sequel. Tim Burton brought back a lot of the original characters and gimmicks. Crazy that Keaton basically looks the same after 36 years. Fun to see a continuation of the storyline.

Spectre (2015)

That entire opening sequence in Mexico City was stupid. All the ingredients of a cheesy 80s action movie were there. Is that what James Bond is aiming for these days?

This was Sam Mendes cashing in a big paycheck so he could make other films worth seeing. The whole thing was rather boring. The plot was one cliché after another. Leftover leftovers.

Tears Of The Sun (2003)

Better than I thought it would be. Gets right into the story with Bruce and the villagers. Some of the moments felt manipulated to get a reaction from the audience, but others were quite touching and/or disturbing. More fighting and action than I predicted. Reminded me in some ways of Three Kings, which is a much better movie.

Shoot ‘Em Up (2007)

A title that lives up to its name. Gratuitous violence in all of its forms. Death abounds as bodies fall like dominoes. Plot is a mere afterthought. Plausibility an ugly step child you refuse to look in the eye. What matters here are bullets, and the speed at which they can be delivered to the assorted parts of our bodies. Carrots play a major role as well, but I'll let you discover that for yourself. Admit it. We all have night's when all we're in the mood for is a high body count and non stop action.

Matrix Reloaded (2003)

I had very high expectations going in, since the original Matrix blew my mind. M2 starts out rather slow, building to action sequences which are at times fantastic, but mostly repetitive. It felt like a 5 star meal that's been re-microwaved.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010)

I went in with extremely low expectations and had them met. I imagine this is what watching Ghost Rider must feel like. I hope I never prove myself right.
