A Very Long Engagement (Un Long Dimanche de Fiançailles) (2004)

 

A second pairing between Audrey Tautou and Jean-Pierre Jeunet from Amelie with very good results. The plot is a bit complex, with many characters (including Jodie Foster?!?!?), but rest assured, everything will come together in the end, leaving you with a warm feeling inside, and perhaps a single tear rolling down your cheek.

Happenstance (Le Battement D'ailes du Papillon) (2000)

Twisting plots with various characters who eventually come together. I enjoyed it.

Dirty Pretty Things (2002)

A nice little UK film about illegal immigrants and a sketchy hotel. Great performances.

Amélie (2001)

I'd heard it was really good, and it was. Cinematically stunning with a very witty script. I adored the leading actress and the amusing love story. This French film is a must see.

The Da Vinci Code (2006)

Like so many others before me, I made the mistake of reading the book prior to seeing the movie, and therefore became annoyed by the plethora of plot changes made by the screenwriter. In addition, the movie didn't flow like the book did. It felt jumpy; patched together.
