War Machine (2026)

 

Robots from outer space wreak havoc on the world’s population, but the film revolves around a group of Ranger cadets facing off against a couple. Not a strong or novel premise, and the script doesn’t bring much else to the table beyond severed limbs and charred bodies.

Buffaloed (2019)

It’s a helping of fun with a side of Debt Collection 101.

Best line of the movie: “I did not come to the promised land to fondle soft wieners”

Suicide Squad (2016)

This third installment feels like a series of flashy music videos loosely held together by something resembling a plot. Despite watching the extended version, it felt like major storylines were missing. As if they’d taken 13 TV episodes and edited them into a 2-hour movie.

Some fun moments and likable characters make it bearable, but there was far too much magic and craziness for my liking. I prefer my superhero movies to be more subtle.

Terminator Genisys (2015)

Tons of time traveling and quantum physics nonsense wrapped up in a cliché. This franchise died a long time ago, yet Hollywood keeps going back in time to resurrect it.

A Good Day To Die Hard (2013)

No surprises here. There’s a never-ending car chase which causes millions in damage and likely dozens of lives. You know, the type that has never happened in the history of human kind and never will, because it’s logistically impossible. The two McClain’s survive injuries that would put down a superhero. It’s an 80’s action flick with today’s technology and budget.

Jack Reacher (2012)

This is one shade of a character Tom Cruise has played a number of times. It’s a comfortable leather jacket he feels is at home in, like the one Jack Reacher wears in the film. The plot, of what I can only believe is the first installment of a new movie franchise, is nothing special. Despite that, I remained engaged the entire film. It’s a slick production. I’m more than happy to give up my time in exchange for an above average action flick.
