Unconditional Love (2002)

 

A fairly uneventful film with terrible singing and music, a weak script, and subpar acting.

Shattered Glass (2003)

 

Great cast, great acting, great story. Based on the true story of a reporter who made up most of his stories for the New Republic. It doesn't sound very exciting, but it was quite well done.

The Batman (2022)

 

Gave this a watch because I wanted some extra backstory for HBO’s The Penguin series. It was quite long, but entertaining enough.

The Year Of The Dog (2007)

Felt as if I chased some sleeping pills with a shot of Nyquil. The laughs are few and far between. Slow plot, sad people, and stupid pets.

Jarhead (2005)

If I wasn't interested in joining the armed forces before, I certainly am not interested now. Sadly, I believe this film gives a fairly accurate portrayal of the crappy life a soldier endures. It's like a frat house with high powered weapons. No thanks Uncle Sam.

Black Mass (2015)

A compelling performance from Depp. Surprised he wasn’t nominated for it. Gritty crime drama that unfolds slowly and evenly paced. I enjoyed the acting more than the movie.

The Magnificent Seven (2016)

A decent remake of the classic Western.

Garden State (2004)

Loved it. Films like these are all the better because of how infrequently they are made. I don't have anything else to say. I loved it.

An Education (2009)

Smartly written, although a bit dry at times. I think I would have liked the story a little more if David hadn't been so randomly odd. Still, the characters were well developed and relatively consistent throughout the film. It's not a terribly exciting story, but not bad for a Sunday afternoon.

Flightplan (2005)

Contrary to popular belief, this movie has nothing to do with a flight plan. Pretty good suspense until the end, where it fizzled.

The Skeleton Key (2005)

I made the mistake of watching this on my laptop while flying, allowing everyone around me to see me scream like a girl whenever something jumped out of the screen. Screw em. A decent thriller as far as run-of-the-mill thrillers go. I was entertained on my flight to Kauai.

Robot & Frank (2012)

Three cheers for original movie ideas! Cool premise and  execution. Not every robot movie needs to be A.I. or I, Robot. Simpler is often better. I really enjoyed this one.

The Salton Sea (2002)

My appreciation for Val Kilmer continues to grow after seeing performances like this. He's a truly underrated actor. This is a smart, moody drug/thriller/drama with a few tricks up its sleeve. I loved it.

Knight and Day (2010)

A bit of mindless fun if you don't look too deep. About as enjoyable as an average episode of Burn Notice. Diaz is getting too old to play cute. Cruz looks younger every year. Go figure.
