The Time Machine (2002)

I wish I could travel back in time and change the ending. I liked the story, special effects, and even the futuristic creatures. Very weak third act.

Magnolia (1999)

Paul Thomas Anderson was a superstar back then. Seems like half of Hollywood stars in this film. The fast pacing and shifting storylines keep the audience engaged from beginning to end.

However, watching it now, I’m reminded how sad and tragic everyone is. It’s a pretty depressing 3 hours. Heavy stuff. Tom Cruise’s Academy Award nomination was well deserved. It was a standout performance in a sea of great performances.

Office Space (1999)

The first 5-10 minutes of this movie remind me why I’ll never go back to working in an office. What a nightmare. Office Space encapsulates the drudgery and duldrum of white collar work in America. Iconic characters. Jennifer Aniston is adorable. Stephen Root is unrecognizable. Plenty of laughs.

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant (2009)

Mostly watchable until the unfulfilling end. I'm not exactly sure who the audience for this film is, and I don't think the producers knew either. I was never scared, thrilled, humored, or compelled. It was mildly amusing and that's all. Pretty weak acting by the two teenage leads as well.

Drumline (2002)

Can't believe how much I enjoyed this movie. Not only did it sound
FANTASTIC on my entertainment system, but it was flawlessly put together for the type of movie it was. Along the same concept of Bring It On, only a better plot, with developed characters, and much more talent. I'll never crack another joke about the marching band. I seriously had a great time watching this movie, and as much as I hate to give good reviews to teen genre movies, I'm forced to give this one a:

Double Take (2001)

I was hoping for a funny, low emotional investment kind of movie, but wound up with a stinker. Similar movies have done much better with this plot: "Midnight Run" is a good example. There were a few laughs here and there, but overall, it was crap.

Evolution (2001)

Despite a solid premise for comedy, they didn't do much with it. Yes, there were some funny scenes, but overall it was a let-down. Julianne Moore was wasted. David Duchovny was OK, as was Orlando Jones, but there were too many long stretches between site gags.

Bedazzled (2000)

Elizabeth Hurley sizzles in one sexy outfit after another. If she's the devil, show me where I can sell my soul. (j/k) The movie was fun too.

Sour Grapes (1998)

With Larry David directing, I figured this couldn't be that bad. I was wrong. This movie dragged and wheezed it's way through a poor plot. Sometimes the characters reminded me of ones on Seinfeld, but nowhere near as funny. I did laugh out loud at parts, but as a whole, I was let down.
