Tenet (2020)

There is confusing, and then there is Tenet. Chris Nolan may be the only one who knows what the hell is going on. Everything is moving forward and reverse so fast that while you are trying to figure out what just happened, five more things flew by on screen that you didn’t understand. 

Does this make for a fun night out at the movies? Not really. It all looked cool though and the sound effects vibrating my theater chair didn’t disappoint. A television series may have been a more appropriate format for this story, but then again, that might just prolong your frustration.

Come To Daddy (2019)

I liked the bizarre way things kicked off and I was excited to see where the story would go. Nowhere very interesting it turns out.

Ant-Man (2015)

A rare superhero movie that works on all levels. Great story development. Funny script. Action that expertly straddles the line between cool and ridiculous. Throwback effects from Honey I Shrunk The Kids. (When is that remake coming out?) It was all there. Wish they hadn’t made this a part of the Avenger’s universe, but oh well.

Insomnia (2002)

It's amazing how good Robin Williams is in serious roles, and how reliably sucky he is when doing comedies. Scenery was beautiful. Good thriller.

Saved (2004)

Good concept and cast, but surprisingly shallow performances. Sort of like "But I'm A Cheerleader", for the 1-2 of you who saw that. It had that cheap indie feel, but in a bad way. There were quite a few funny scenes, which make it worth seeing, but I felt it could have been more polished.

The United States of Leland (2003)

A moody and well acted film. Jena Malone plays yet another girlfriend to the unstable male lead. (Much better in The Glass House) Cheadle was very good in his role. This movie won't leave you feeling happy, but it will put you in a thoughtful mood, which is a good thing sometimes.

Pipe Dream (2002)

A little indie about a plumber who pretends to be directing a little indie in order to get women to give him the time of day. Cute story that will entertain for the evening. Worth the rental.
