War (2007)

Action movies tend to get in trouble when they script a plot bigger than they can chew. Here, it was obvious the writers churned out a Face/Off-rip/off, and then proceeded to write a bunch of extra fluff in order to differentiate their film from the latter. The result was a flimsy plot that still smacked of Face/Off, but at least spared us the megalomaniacal antics of a certain Scientologist. Had it not been for the butt-kicking, the film would have been a total loss.

Bang Bang You’re Dead (2002)

Hard to say whether the filming style they utilized served to make the film more impactful or not. It definitely strikes a chord from a content perspective. There have been a lot of “bullying” films released in the last 10-15 years. This is one of the better ones I’ve seen. Ben Foster is a real talent. He plays the roll perfectly. The interplay between movie and the play-within-the-movie was nicely done. Some great messages are delivered in poignant ways.
