What Doesn’t Kill You (2008)

A really long crime drama with solid performances by Ruffalo and Hawke. It's based on a true story, so they could only pump up the action so much. It's a relationship movie at its core.

The Sixth Sense (1999)

It’s a different experience watching a second time, already knowing the twist and seeing how obvious it was in retrospect. I guess that’s how magic tricks work. Once the trick is revealed, you wonder how you didn’t figure it out before.

Haley Joel Osmet and Donnie Wahlberg (as short as his scene was) acted the hell out of their roles. After such a serious origin, you wouldn’t expect Haley as an adult being so funny.

Sixth Sense sparked many big twist/reveal movies, and for that it’s a classic. It also delivers on its central theme of facing your fears.

Saw III (2006)

Do two movies make a pattern? They did in this case. When the sequel failed to measure up to the original, I should have known the third installment would outright suck. It attempts to make up in gore what it lacks in plot and direction.

Saw II (2005)

Having been pleasantly surprised with the first Saw, I decided to give the sequel a chance. While it didn't have that same intense kick of the first, it still delivers some chilling moments. Even with the pile of cash made on the original, they still managed to make this one look more low-budget.
