Sound Of Metal (2019)

Going deaf terrifies me, so in a way this movie was a horror film. The sound editing really allows the audience to experience a glimpse of the trauma that comes with losing your hearing. I imagine losing one’s sight would be similar. You go from living one life to living a completely new one.

Quantum of Solace (2008)

I had high expectations following the fantastic rebirth of James Bond. Sadly, they were mostly unfulfilled in this complicated mess of intrigue and chase scenes. The plot was all over the place, and then they had to go and throw in a bunch of explosions at the end, as if to let the audience know the old days were coming back.

I can't bear the thought of returning to bimbo rocket scientists and ridiculously named villains. I guess Casino Royal was just a fluke to get people hooked again. Well it won't work. No more opening weekend ticket prices for me. You'll be lucky to get a DVD rental out of me in the future when it comes to new James Bond pics.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (Le Scaphandre et le Papillon) (2007)

The cinematography and camerawork is masterful. You are sucked right into the body of a paralyzed man, which isn’t exactly a comfortable place to be. It was difficult to watch at times, putting yourself in his shoes. Top notch acting. The story is told expertly through snippets and flashbacks. The pace is slow and can be a bit of a downer, but it’s certainly a film to be seen.

Munich (2005)

A gripping, well made film that could have used a bit more editing and focus. I'm glad I saw the film and learned more about what happened that day. The DVD was surprisingly barren. They should have at least included a short documentary or something.

Mesrine: Part 2: Public Enemy #1 (2008)

Spent most of the film waiting for this a-hole to get his due. How did such a smug ignoramus escape permanent incarceration for so long? The movie is watchable, but I hated the main character too much to enjoy it.
