A smart comedy about a stuttering debater attempting to come
out of his shell. Some really competent performances. Nice
direction and writing. Consistently funny; often laugh-out-loud.

War Dogs (2016)
Perversely entertaining despite knowing the real joke is on everyone watching the film. At least our wasted tax dollars help fund the story this film is loosely based upon.

How To Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)
The reviews were very positive for this sequel. Undeservedly so in my opinion. By-the-book storytelling. More flying dragons. A lot of fighting with only like one person dying, thus taking away any real suspense. Very little in the way of humor for adults. I chuckled once or twice.

Sausage Party (2016)
This makes South Park look like Sesame Street. Viewer discretion advised. Also, not as funny as I’d hoped.

Click (2006)
Most of the humor comes from the many supporting characters in small
roles. You've seen this story played out a million different ways
already. This time around, it's with a remote.

Good for some laughs, but like the "students" who attend this
university, you'll need to check your brain at the door.

22 Jump Street (2014)
Plenty of funny and dumb moments throughout. At least they were self-aware about being a ridiculous sequel. Could have been much worse.

This Is The End (2013)
As far as post-apocalyptic movies go, this is one of the strangest and most f-ed up I’ve ever seen. The comedy is dark and crude—on par with most of the other movies these guys put out. I’ll admit I laughed a lot. Plotlines are completely ridiculous, but fun.

The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013)
A film portraying the worst side of America. All seven deadly sins are proudly on display. A drug fueled rocket ship to Donald Trump’s summer home in Hell. A bit exhausting and sad to watch, yet entertaining as well. Best Picture nominee? Maybe.

How To Train Your Dragon (2010)
This was my first foray into the new world of 3D. Went to see a movie with the
nephews. The little one lost interest, but the older one was mostly entertained.
It held my interest too, but nothing special. It's no Kung Fu Panda or Toy
Story. The 3D is a nice gimmick, but that's all it is. I would have been just as
entertained in 2D. Not worth forking over the extra green unless it's Avatar.

Evan Almighty (2007)
Despite some forays into preposterous waters, Evan is mostly smooth
sailing. The story is much more focused than the Jim Carrey original, and with the use of real
animals and an actual ark on set, the film doesn't come off looking
like a low budget mini series starring Jon Voight.
Is this a movie miracle? No, but it does entertain; and maybe that's enough.

Refreshingly inappropriate and hysterically funny. Humor on every
level, but most of it resides below the waistline.

The Invention of Lying (2009)
Really sharp and funny at times. It's certainly a Ricky Gervais film, which
means loads of dark, uncomfortable humor. The concept itself isn't very
original, except to the extreme extent that it is taken. It's like "Yes Man",
but with the whole world.

Superbad (2007)
Extremely funny, but also very crude. It's
like a day in the life of the dudes from Knocked Up when they were
younger. If you're not easily offended and enjoy perverse, juvenile
humor, then this is the film for you.

Cyrus (2010)
I like quirky, dysfunctional love stories, such as As Good As It Gets, Punch
Drunk Love, or Benny & June. Cyrus is a fine example. I'm glad they played it
straight rather than going the Step Brothers route of crazy high-jinx. Jonah is
actually very reserved in this role and shows some depth most people didn't know
he had. Marisa is gorgeous as always. Riley is consistently great. Fun little
move.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
If you are a fan of the regular parade of Judd Apatow movies, featuring the now familiar cast of friends, then you will most
assuredly enjoy this one. Lots of crude humor mixed with just enough
emotional drama. Several current members of SNL add a boost of
funny as well. I laughed a lot.

A few amusing parts and lines, but overall a scattered, unfunny mess. Stick with the classic “Adventures in Babysitting”.
