Mad Props (2024)

A documentary for nerds interested in movie props, those who collect them, and those who make them. It was interesting to see these iconic pieces in people’s home collections, as well as the stories behind them. The film itself was very basic.

Appaloosa (2008)

Terrific opening scene and story set up. I was truly excited to see how everything would unfold. Loved the idea of lawmen for hire coming into town ad setting up Marshall law. Then Rene Zellicker stepped off the train and everything went down the shitter.

Not only did she massacre the character she was playing, but she brought down every scene she was in. They literally could have hired any actress off the street to play that roll and the results would have been better. How Rene continues to get work while holding the title of worst actress in Hollywood is beyond me.

AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)

Nice bit of distracting violence for a Saturday afternoon. Plot was decent, but it felt rushed. I think they could have drawn it out a little longer and made a better film.

Near Dark (1987)

One of the worst vampire movies I’ve ever seen. Zero character development. Retarded plot. Terrible music by Tangerine Dream. Crude special effects.

Dead Man (1995)

Dead Man, with Johnny Depp, is beautifully shot in black and white. This odd story set in the old west combines an all star cast of strange characters into a sweet and dark tale.
