Heads Of State (2025)

 

Cartoonish in execution. The production value was plenty high, but they skimped on the script. Nothing feels believable, so the danger isn’t suspenseful.

Novocaine (2025)

 

Gimmicky and way over-the-top. It went from implausible to outright silly. The bodily harm became exhausting. He may not feel pain, but finishing this movie was a real one.

Companion (2025)

 

A winner for those of us that appreciate dark humor with our horror/thriller films. It’s a future love-bot gone wrong story with a lot of thoughtful, smart touches. Great one-liners and reactions from the cast. I laughed, shrieked, and jumped. A good time at the theater. 

Rating: B+

Plus One (2019)

Two friends team up to be one another’s plus one at a series of weddings, end up boning, and eventually fall in love. It’s not the plot that will draw you in, but the witty banter. The film does a good job of portraying just how sucky it is when all your friends get married leaving you behind.

Rating: C+
