Sort of a sequel to Diary of the Dead, but much better. Competent plot and direction. I liked the dueling family clans on the island sub plot. A worthwhile zombie rental.

Diary of the Dead (2007)
Very weak as far as zombie movies go. The plot was dumb and so were the characters. They went beyond the call of duty when it came to making asinine choices. There was no depth or feeling in the script. Just a bunch of nameless actors going through the motions. Rating: D

Land of the Dead (2005)
It's nice to see Romero have a real budget to work with for a change. The fourth film in the series features real actors, the best horror effects team in the industry, and a decent plot. The gore factor on the unrated DVD is amped way up. DVD extras are worth checking out.Rating: C
