King Arthur (2004)

 

The studio forced Antoine Fuqua to release a cleaner version for the theater, but thankfully they released the director's cut on DVD. It's a new take on the Arthur and Guinevere story. Enjoyable characters and story.

Rambo (2008)

 

He's back, bloodier than ever, and with a message too. The plot is centered around a terrible conflict in Burma (Myanmar). After some really bad acting and dialogue, Rambo and a team of mercenaries get to doing what they do best--killing.

This film is extremely violent, yet somehow rewarding, as most of the people dying had previously been torturing villagers. If you are looking for an action fix, this will do the job.

Creed (2015)

I generally don’t care for boxing movies, or boxing in general, but this is a nominated film, so I made an exception. Let’s be honest. Boxing is boring as hell. Movies make it way more exciting than what it really is—two dudes hugging it out. Thank goodness MMA became a thing.

Stallone does an admirable job in his role. Best actor? Not by a long shot. Leonardo in The Revenant is the clear-cut winner. Decent movie.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)

More action packed and entertaining than the trudging first. Some incredible fight sequences, like the one on the raging river. Visually and audibly engaging.

The Hobbit (2012)

Really pretty to look at and full of incredible special effects, but light on story development and suspense. Doesn’t measure up to the very high bar the three other LOTR movies set.
