Flyboys (2006)

It's worth seeing just for the great dog-fighting action sequences. The script is so-so, but the special effects are outstanding.

V For Vendetta (2005)

I had very high expectations going into this one. A lot of good things said about this film. Cool and unique. Yes. Compelling and suspenseful. No. Not enough action. I wish the story was more fleshed out. Performances were great, the film wasn't.

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

Yet another reminder that style is nothing without substance. The movie looks amazing. The characters are unique and colorful, yet I don't care about any of them. There's absolutely no depth to be found. A bunch of talking animals and ridiculous looking people interact on screen, but none of them evoke the slightest emotional reaction from the viewer.

The biggest blunder of all is that the film has no audience. With the PG rating, you'd think this was created for kids, however, this would simultaneously bore and scare kids to tears. Adults? Nope. We were unstimulated and confused. Teens? There's no romance or believable action. Burton took the same unmarketable path as Jonze did with Where The Wild Things Are. Self gratification over audience appeal.

The Four Feathers (2002)

The pros: picturesque landscapes, performances by Heath Ledger and his native friend, and one cool battle scene. The cons: Everything else. Long winded and trite at times. I had to make myself focus during the long drawn out romance sequences and stop myself from rooting for the bad guys since I felt the British deserved to be wiped out.
