Riding In Cars With Boys (2001)

A true drama. Not terribly exciting or uplifting, but still a good story. Drew has never looked so bad.

Be Cool (2005)

I guess I was entertained. The movie rolled by in front of me and I watched. I didn't laugh, because nothing was really funny. I wasn't scared, because nothing was scary. I wasn't excited, because nothing was overly violent or dramatic. It was simply a story and I watched. I have no idea what this movie was trying to be, if anything at all.

Another ridiculous Hollywood action flick featuring the destruction of the White House.

Salvador (1986)

An early Olive Stone film. James Woods, grittier than ever, plays a drunken journalist covering the mayhem in El Salvador around the Reagan era. Oliver puts his personal political agenda all over the film, as usual, but don't be surprised if you end up siding with him when it's over.

It's a very aggressive film, not holding back on anything. The violence is in your face, the gore factor is high. Mass open grave sites, bullets to the head, nuns being raped, torture, and mutilation. Not the kind of flick you want to show at a party. (at least not one I want to be invited to) If you can deal with all that, there's a good movie underneath it all.

Northfork (2003)

I expected big things from this film. The trailer was excellent. The Polish Brothers really impressed me with Twin Falls Idaho. The cast is superb. How they managed to make an incredibly bad film with all that is beyond me.

It's slow from start to finish. Strange and confusing in a bad way. There's no payoff at the end, and there certainly wasn't any payoff in the middle. This film could have been much better in the hands of someone else.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001)

Looks fantastic on DVD, but the story was a bit too sci-fi/fantasy/spiritual for me. There is an extra disc chock full of extras, but most aren't worth checking out.
