IT (2017)

All the bullying in this movie brought back a lot of memories of elementary school. I wonder if kids are still huge dicks? Too unrealistic to be truly scary. Mostly consists of spook house gags and jump cuts. The kids had some funny lines. I bit presumptuous to end the movie with Chapter 1. I wouldn’t watch a sequel.

Midnight Special (2016)

Interesting premise. It takes a while before you know what’s going on. Things unfold slowly. It’s never clear why the ladies are dressed like polygamists. But anyway, you’ll spend the entire film waiting for a big payoff at the end. Something happens, but it wasn’t enough to justify all the buildup.

St. Vincent (2014)

Terrific performance from Bill Murray. The plot is your typical About-A-Boy style dysfunctional pairing between a flawed adult and mature beyond his years boy. Despite often being clichéd, it’s still witty and sometimes heartwarming.
