The Machinist (2004)

I respect Brad Anderson as a director and can understand why an actor might go to great lengths for a role in one of his films, but not this one. Christian Bale's sacrifice was wasted on a dreary mess filled with unsympathetic characters.

Terminator Salvation (2009)

Just because 3 movies, a TV series, and a theme park ride have paved the path before you, doesn't mean you get to skimp on character development and story. Salvation dives right in, as if the audience has been waiting anxiously for the next installment.

Lots of robots and explosions with little to make the audience care who lives or dies. This is what your get when MCG is directing. His style may suit the Charlie's Angels crowd, but it's not suited for anything with depth.

Nobody (2021)

Moral of the story. Best to avoid picking fights with nobodys just in case they turn out to be somebodys. Ultra violent beat em up/shoot em up mayhem. May teeter on being unrealistic at times, but still bloody fun.

Turbo Kid (2015)

A post-apocalyptic movie that takes place in 1997, filmed in a 1980s style? Yes please. Violence and gore are over-the-top. The cheese dial is turned way up, but everyone’s playing it straight. The whacked out robotic girlfriend was a nice touch. If you are in the mood for something different. This definitely qualifies.
