Yet another childhood classic ruined by a second viewing as an adult. Standards were so low back then. Was this written and directed by a teenager? The script makes no sense and the acting is abysmal. Why the hell would any invading army attack a worthless town in the boonies? And how did they get all those tanks there? I’d love to see this movie redone with a competent screenwriter and cast who can act. Hope the remake is better. Rating: D-

Come now, you need to remember the premise, the invading force's target was to secure the US missile silo's that are pretty much all located in the midwest :)
But I concur, it is difficult to watch today, but at the time; it seemed to make sense. I think we tend to forget just how bleak things seemed to look during the cold war; but you can get a sense of it with the movies; so in that respect, movies like Red Dawn provide a magnifying glass to the past.
