Definitely the best David Lynch film I've seen since The Elephant Man back in 1980. I was only 8 or so at the time, but it had a
profound effect on me that's lasted to this day.
The Straight Story is a slow moving film--about as slow moving as the tractor Richard Farnsworth drives across two states. He doesn't even reach the Mississippi River until an hour and a half in. But, if you can get past the shuffling pace, the film tells a simple story packed with emotion.
Richard Farnsworth was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his performance. Well deserved I might add.
